Course outline
Day 1 takes Litter Wardens through gathering and presenting evidence, so they may carry out their work to best practice standards. Attendees will also learn how to carry out interviews and document findings, including drafting notices.
Day 2 develops the skills of giving oral evidence effectively. Attendees will learn
how to plan and prepare how to give evidence and deal effectively with questioning in the witness box.
This training will enable attendees to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of the relevant theory behind litter and why it is a problem
- Show an in-depth knowledge of the relevant European and Irish Waste Legislation
- Acquire knowledge of the relevant sections of the Litter Pollution Act 1997
- Effectively gather and authenticate evidence and efficiently take concise and accurate notes
- Adequately write factual and concise reports
- Understand the process of issuing the relevant letters, notices and fines
- Demonstrate knowledge of the Irish adversarial system and how to conduct oneself in court
- Effectively deal with people and adequately manage and deal with threats
- Recognise practical knowledge of the relevant health and safety regulations, common hazards and PPE requirements
This course is on the LASNTG Framework and grant funding can be applied for.
