This BTEC Level 5 Certificate is accredited by the examining body Edexcel and is made up of 3 days of practical training, in addition to pre-course work and a post-course assessment.
The face-to-face training elements will enable learners to apply their knowledge and understanding of the methods and processes of cyber investigations to either a live cyber incident or a simulation of a cyber incident.
Learners will be able to put their learnt skills and knowledge into practice as they are required to explore and demonstrate the methodologies that are used to investigate a potential cyber-crime. Learners are required to demonstrate adherence to current legislation and the Codes of practice throughout the live or simulated cyber incident.
Learners will need to produce their own set of cyber investigative plans for a given incident and should show how they will use selective and appropriate information collection processes and investigative opportunities.
They must also be able to identify the authorisations, policies and procedures required as part of their plan for their designated incident or simulation.
Key learning points:
Produce cyber investigative plans
- Use tools and techniques to examine computer networks and devices in order to extract information for cyber investigations
- Interpret complex information from a cyber investigation in order to report the outcome
Those who successfully complete the pre-course work, 3-days of face-to-face training and the post course assessment will be eligible for the BTEC Level 5 Certificate in Cyber Investigations and will be able to call themselves a Certified Cyber Investigator (CCI).
"I recently completed the BTEC 5 in Cyber Investigations and found the entire experience delightful. The training team are available for additional support when needed and happy to answer any questions throughout the training. After completing the course I feel confident to use the new skills and knowledge I acquired which I am already seeing positively impacting my current role.
